Vice-Regal. The new Governor, the Earl of Liverpool, will probably preside at his first meeting of the Executive Council on Monday morning. All the Cabinet Ministers are in town to-day with the exception of the Hon. I\ M. B. I'isher, who is at Aucklan'd. The Hon. W, ( Eraser, Miniver for' Public Works, leaves for Auckland on Tuesday. Ho will remain in Auckland province for about a week. Mr. W. H. D. Bell, M.P., has left Wellington to spend a fortnight's holiday at Rotorua. Mr. W. H. Cowdray has been appointed health inspector to the Wellington Hospital Board, vice Mr. Hopkins, deceased. Mr. Scott Colville, touring manager for the Kirkby Lunn tour, arrived in Wellington from Auckland yesterday to make arrangements for Madame Kirkby Luhn's season in Wellington in January. The appointment of Mr. H. P. Tomlinson as a surveyor of ships generally for the Dominion is gazetted. Staff Sergeant-Major John Murray Rose has been awarded'the meritorious service medal. Mr. W. R. Harknoss has been appointed an inspector and grader under tlio Dairy Industry Act. Mr. J.' H. Hoivitt, C.8., Wellington, was last night appointed as engineer to the Timaru Borough Council at a salary of £iOO a year. There were 22 applicantsPress Association. v The recognition by. the Governor of the appointment of Mr. L. 0. H. Tripp as Consular Agent for Italy is gazetted. Mr. Arthur Cecil Day has been appointed a shorthand writer and typist in the Public Servicfc.
The following are gazetted members of the Surveyors' Board under the Surveyors' Institute and Board of Examiners Act:— Messrs. Thomas Humphreys, E. H. Wilinot, Hubert Sladden, and J. W. Harrison. The first two were nominated by tho Minister for Lands, and the other two by the council of tho New Zealand Institute of Suyveyora. Mr. J. F, Thompson, for some years of tho Native branch Land and _ Deeds Registry Office, who has i passed Jus final solicitor's examination, is resigning from the Department in order to enter the legal profession. lie joins tho office of Mr. It, Ward Tate, of Greytown. Mr. F. E. Bowden was presented by the staff of Young's Chemical Company on Friday evening with a suit-ease and clock upon the occasion of his approaching marriaira to Miss Muntz, of Upper Moutero. Tlio Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board yesterday received .the resignation of Mr. William Tompsitt, who represented Horowheriua County and Borough on tho board.
