A Wedding at Rangiotu. A wedding of much interest to the community was celebrated on Wednesday in the Presbyterian Church, Rangiotu, when the eldest son of Mr. James Tonnant was married to tho daughter of Mr. Samuel Donaldson, two old and' much-osteemed residents of tho district. The church had boen prettily decorated for the occasion, and the service was conducted by the Rev. J. M. Thomson, M.A. Mr. Lyall played the organ, and at the clos» of tho ceremony played the: Wedding March as the bridal party left the church. The bride wore a gown of cream silk radianta, with silk lace tunic and diamond and ruby bracelets, tho gift of the bridegroom. She carried a bouquet of white rosebuds and sweet poas, with white ribbon streamers. Two asters of the, bridegroom were the attendant bridesmaids, Miss' Tennant wearing a frock of pale blue shantung and carrying a bouquet of light cream 6weet peas with blue streamers, and her sister pale pink shantung, her bouquet being of pale pink sweet peas with pink streamers. Two brothers of the bridegroom wero hia attendant best man and groomsman.

Th marriago of two members of the oldest families in the Sandon district aroused much interest at Sandon oh Wednesday, when Mr. Wilfred Henry Eonson, tho eldest son of Mr, John Henson, of "Veau Mont," Mount' Stewart, was married to Miss Mabel Penny, the youngest daughter of Mr. W. Penny, of "To Wairoa, Sandon. The service, which was choral, was conducted by tho Rev. J. E. Biaokburne, at St. Thomas's Church. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of cream ohiffon taffeta, trimmed with silk lace, and a veil and wreath of orange blossoms. The bridesmaids, Mis'ses Henson and Ethel Penny, were in frocks'of Japanese silk, trimmed with silk_ insertion and fringe. The two little maids, Mavis Penny and Dulcie Hen'son* were in cream silk trimmed with silk lace, and they carried shepherd's crooks. All carried bouquets of lovoly flowers, the gift -of Mrs. B. S. Penny (aunt of the bride). Mr. Allan Henson was best man, and Mr. Leroy Henson groomsman. Mr. Campbell Penny played the "Wedding March" as the briao and bridegroom left the church. A reception was held in « large marquee erected in tho grounds of the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Penny. . The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a gold chain and pendant, «nd gold brooches to the bridesmaids. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a set of gold sleeve links. , • The wedding party motored to Marton in the evening to catch the Auckland express, and intend to spend the honeymoon in the northern city. A "Gift Tea." On Wednesday afternoon at "Hom&t wood," Glcnooe Avenue, Mrs. E. W. Hunt gave a gift tea for the mothers uf To Aro and Tory Street Mission. Tho quests were received in tho ' drawingroom, which was decorated with. • pals pink and white sweet peas, and delightful music, monologues, and recitations wero given by young frionds of tho hostess. Sisters May and Annie gave a brief outline of the work done in their districts, work that was brightened very much by 6uch kindness as tnat given by the hostess. Many useful and varied gifts were brought. Tea and dainty refreshments were served In the diningroom, the tables being ornamented with coreopsis and white gladioli. The weather being perfect, a pleasant, afternoon was spent. A Musical Evening," Mr. and Mrs. George E. James entertained a large circle of musical' friends at their final reunion of the season,, a very enjoyable evening being spent' with vocal and instrumental music. The draw-ing-room had been prettily arranged with flowers, and supper was served in an adjoining room. Among those who contributed with their music to the enjoyment of the evening were' Mrs. Cording, Mrs. Poster, and Messrs. James, Phipps, Okie, Minifie, Billing, Sezenes, and Russell. Mr. C. Eussoll played all the accompaniments. Mrs. James wore a gown of palo champagne coloured satin with black laco overdress, relieved with a yoke of cream lace.
