December 19, 0.5 a.m.) London, December 18.. ! -Mr. Herbert Samuel, Postmaster-Gen-eral, in reply to a question in the House of Commons, said the Government could not answer Australia's.request for a subsidiary cable conference until the reduction in the Atlantic cable rates had been made. Mr. Samuel added that further Imperial cable reductions were content-' plated, to take effect from January 1.
