THE FISH MARKET.

Sir,—Knowing that your paper is ever ready to ventilate any grievance tho public may have, I write these few lines in the hope of it catching the eye of the party responsible. Last Friday morning I went down to the municipal fish market and purchased in all 10s. worth of fish (soles) at Gd. lb. -When I got homo they started to cook them for lunch, but lo and behold every, piece was bad. Now, that is tho second time I have had bad fish from the market. Tho first time I never said anything, but now I think it unfair that I should lose my money. Were it a retailer I should have taken it back and demanded better fish, but with the markets they are most time closed, and when it is open you receive bad fish unfit for , human '■ consumption. Mr. Editor, I would esteem, it a favour were you to place this matter before the proper authorities and see that all the fish is inspected before being sold. If. this is a sample, how tho council authorities run a'fish market, then do not let them start any other sort of market, otherwise it will be a lasting monument to their unbusinesslike methods.—l am, etc.. SOUTH AFRICA. P.S.—The morning I purchased the fish the price was 6d. lb.', and you pot rood weight. Other times and siuco, the price is Bd. lb. and net weight. Why the 'difference?'
