- .The Department of • Agriculture has just received copies of the British War Department's tender forms for the supply of ■ preserved meat for tho army contracts. Tenders close on January 20, 1913, and the goods have to be delivered at Woolwich early in April next. TII9 Livo Stock and Meat Division of the Department has n limited supply of tho tender forms, Signs of greater prosperity in business generally are not wanting at present. ' MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Tho monthly meeting of tho General Committee cf tho Masterton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday last, there being present: Messrs. H. Morrison (president), J. Strung, .H. Dagg, J. T. Dagg, W. Perry, W. Cooper,' Jj. Rayner, G. H. Shaw, W. H. Buick, G. C. Summercll, O. C. Cooper, S. R. Lancaster, J. C. M'lullop, D. Casolberg, and Q. Donaid. The report of tho special meetiug held for tho selection of judges was adopted. A communication was received from tho Neiv Zealand Kennel Club authorising tho allocation of tho challenge class for smooth-oated collies to the Masterton show.—lt was pointed out that any dogs competing in this class would require to be registered with the Kennel Club. After some discussion, it. was decided tliat the challenge class be accepted, and that registration of clogs be mado with the S3crctary at the time of entry. Tho report of the Ground Committee, at the meeting of which Mr. B. Rayner presided, was read. Thecominitleo recom.mended that tho use of the Solway ■jroundsi, on the usual conditions, bo granted to the Y.M.C.A. for a picnic on January 16, and to the Kurupuni Methodist Church for a garden party on January 30. The caretaker reported having altered fourteen stalls for mares and foals; .mado an extra yard for members', horses; erected fence across entrance to old orchard; and effected other minor improvements. It ..was decided that the grass on the showgrounds be cut immediately. The Finance Committee (Mr. D. Casolberg, chairman), favourably recommended the granting of the use of the com-mittee-room by the Chamber of Commerce at an annual'rental of £1 Is. The treasurer reported a debit balance, as per pass-book', of JSHi ss. 2d. Account? amounting to <£79.195. lid. were recom-. mended for payment. The secretary was instructed to ascertain the cost of a galvanised milk vat for tho luncheon department. The chairman and secretary wore empowered to select and purchase a typewriter for use in the office. It was decided that the certificates, as issued by the Royal Horticultural Society, bo not coloured. Ten new members were elected and four life members, making sixty in all. A sub-committee was set-up to decide whether the fat stock sale should be held on the first or second day of the show. It was decided to invite Lord and Lady Liverpool and tho Ministers of tho Crown to the next .show.
