THE NEW GOVERNOR.

VARIATION OF ARRANGEMENTS. In all probability it will be necessary to vary tho arrangements made for the reception of the new Governor, Lord Liverpool, on Thursday. It had been intended that Lord Liverpool should bo conducted straight from tho railway station to tho Government Buildings, and that the swearing-in ceremony should take place there at once. It is now probablo that ho will go to Government House after his arrival here, and come back from there to Government Buildings. It will not be necessary to alter the time for the ceremony. Lord Liverpool will arrive hero earlier than was at first intended, and in order to <lo this he will be asked to leave Auckland earlier by the special train which will bring him to Wellington. The Government will be represented at the reception to be . accorded to Lo?d Liverpool in Auckland by Sir Robert Stout, Administrator of the Government, the Prime Minister (tho Hon. W. F. Mas■sey), and the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher. Sir Robert Stout leaves for Auckland to-day. It is still uncertain whether tho Prime Minister will go to Auckland to-night, or to-morrow morning. If he goes to-mor-row morning he will arrive at Auckland at 7 o'clock on the morning on which Lord Liverpool is to arrive. The time of Mr. Masssy's departure from here will be definitely fixed this morning. Lord Liverpool's staff, twenty-two in number, arrived by the Ruapehu yesterday, in charge of Mr. Gavin-Hamilton, the private secretary. With the exception of their personal servants travelling with them, these complete the staff. The staff will move into Government House to-morrow. Battalion orders by Lieutenant-Colonel C. Harcourt Turner detail the arrangements for the parade of the sth Regiment on the occasion of Lord. Liverpool s arrival. The battalion will parade in Bunny Street (between the' Government Printing Office and the Government Buildings) on Thursday, December 19, at 1 p.m. Full dress (khaki and slouch hats). Attendance will count as ahalf-day parade. Railway passes will be issued to suburban troops, but no . other allowances will be granted.
