The hatpin danger was brought under the notice of the City Council this.evenins, la a letter the Tramways Union stated that on Saturday last a conductor had an eye seriously injured by a pin protruding from a lady's hat, and in consequence was at present-unable to follow his usual occupation.' The union urged that a by-law making it an offence for a lady to wear protruding hatpins in a tramcar should bo framed. The Mayor (Mr. C. J. Parr) remarked that the council had done nothing previously, as it had been of the opinion that no move should bo made until something 'definite was brought More it.
