THE NAVY LEAGUE PRIZES.
FOR CITY SCHOOLS. The monthly meeting of the Wellington Branch of the Navy League was held last evening, and was attended by Messrs. J. B. Harcourt (in the chair), Captain A. V. Jones, and Messrs.'E. J. Le Grove, J. M. Butt, D. M'Kellar, R, Darrocb, and C. W. Palmer. The formation of, several more school branches was reported, and it was stated that all the juvenile members had been taken on board the flagship Drake during her recent visit. ' . _ .
A letter was received from the Defence Department warmly thanking the league and the various hosts and hostesses who had billeted the Canadian Cadets when passing through Wellington. Tho success of Trafalgar Day celebrations and the send-off dinner to the Hon. James Allen were referred to.
It was resolved to co-operate. with tho Compulsory Training Committee, in obtaining reprints of Sir, Robert Stout's and other speeches of December 11. It was resolved to hold the annual general meeting at the Town Hall on Monday afternoon (16th), at 4 p.m., and to ask his. Worship the Mayor, Mr. D. M'Laren (president) to take the chair. Tho school prizes to be given out on that occasion have been allotted aB follows (in proportion to the number of competitors) :— Terrace School: Maurice Braund, 1; Eric Marris, 2; William Morrison, 3. Mount Cook Girls': Irene Emeny, 1. Newtown District High School: John Evers, 1; Albert Marley, 2. Brooklyn School: J. T.. Dawson, 1. Rosoneath: K. Watt, 1; D. Gifford, 2; L. Dawson, 3. Kilbirnie: Leonard Atkinson, 1; Inez Rigg, 2. . The Wellington College prize-list has already been published.
