SABBATH TEACHERS.
'.A NOVEL' CONFERENCE. On Boxing day about 200 teachers from the various Presbyterian Sunday Schools of New Zealand—from the sunny North Capo to the crisp cold south—will meet in a sort of Parliamentary session at Pahnerston North. The conference will last for four days. < This is a new thing in conferences. It is said (hat it will bo the first -New Zealand conference of Sunday school teachers that has ever been held. When 200 Presbyterians show enthusiasm enough to travel hither all tho way from the far North and far South to'converse witheach other it can never again be truly said that ihe Scottish are a nation of silent people. A local committee is busy making arrangements, and it may be predicted that plenty of food for discussion will be provided. Plans have been made for two huge straw bods to bo built, out in two of the big sheds on the show-ground. One of theso will bo for tho gentlemen and the other, for the ladies. Pour tons of straw are now stored on the showground for the purpose not yet imbaled. Before bSdtimo comes on Christmas. Night it will be spread cut along the length of the two halls, at the service of the tired travellers. Tho Rev. A. Doull states that from the experiences in camp with Territorials, "half a bale of straw, will provide bedding sdx inches deep for a good largo bed. The ladies will be arranged for luider similar conditions by a local ladies' committee, of which Sister Grace, the Deaconess, is in charge. The conference will be held at the showground buildings. Special lectures will ho given by the Rev. G. H. Jupp, -travelling secretary to the youth of the. Presbyterian Church in Now' Zealand, Rev. J. li'Konzie, '.of Christchnrch, Rev.- A. Porter, of Marton; Miss M. A. Sinclair, 8.A.. Messrs. J. Caughey, M.A., J. M'Gregor, of Masterton, and others'.
