At the inquest held to-day concerning the death of Robert Dickson, a settler of Mauriceville, who was .found .(lead in his whnre yesterday with> gunshot wound in his breast, evidence was given that deceased, who. had ; be®u. living by himself, . had been, melancholy; of late. Ha was last seen alive a week; ago. A neighbour burst into, the house yesterday and found him lying, on the floor.; with a gun by his side. A verdict was returned of suicide while temporarily insane. , Messrs. J. D. Ritchie (chairman of the Land Purchase Board), and L. D. Brodrick, Commissioner of Crown. Lands, arrived here to-day, and this afternoon inspected a site near the town which is under offer to the Government for workhomes.
