BRITISH TEAM DEFEATS N.S.W. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Ike, December 9, 9.5 p.m.) Sydney, December 9. The kwn tenuis tournament between the English champions ami the New South Wales representatives was concluded today in bright and hot weather. Kice and E. L. Jones (New South Wales) beat Parke and Lowo (England), 11—8, G—3, o—l. Dixon aiul Beamish (England) bent Rico and E. L. Jones (New South Wales), 9—7, G —i. Tho play was again full of interest, although the winners of tho tournament had already been decided. Jones played confidently and cleverly. Dixon, played a very safe, heady game, placing his side-line 6hots admirably. Tho total 6Cores are:— NewBritain. South Wales. Rubbers G 2 Sets 13 8 1 Games 323 112 Speaking at a dinner to the visitors, Mr.. Colquhoun, president of tlie Lawn Tennis Association, said the rules of the international matches should be revised on tho question of venue for the Davis Cup. The suggestion that the matches should be played alternately in different countries was good. Mr. Dixon declared that Alfred Jones had played magnificemtlj, and would be a worthy successor to Brookes.
