GOOD. START IN TIMARU. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ~ ' Timaru, December 9. Adjutant Sharp, collector for the Booth - Memorial College, made a good start hero to-day, Mr. and Mrs., Geo. Wells heading his Timaru list with .£IOO.
In Lisbon the straw. coat has become very fashionable. It is a Tather cumbrous_ garment, but the' Portuguese find that it serves excellently the purpose of i mackintosh. It is made entirely of Btraw, and tho wet Tuns down tho ;ndividu&l straws, and so drops to the ground. I . J
