RECENT DROWNING ACCIDENT.
_ 0 ; (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, December-5. ! Although every effort has been made to recover tho body of Mr. L. Neale, the unfortunate victim of the drowning fatality at Mateatca Bay on Sunday morning last, no trace of it has yet been found. On .Tuesday last Mr. Pledger, who wns a close friend of the deceased, received a cablegram, from, Mrs. Neale, the young man's mother; who resides in Melbourne, directing liim to spare no efforts to recover tho body. The message also . stated that Mrs. Neale and her daughter would arrive here on Sunday. Mr. Pledger again went out to tho scene yesterday morning, this,-.time taking with him a diver and a constable also accompanied tho party. Another thorough searoh was made,. though still without ■result, Mr. Pledger has taken provisions for two or three days, and will rema.ui in the vicinity to continue the search. It is stated that tho place is a particularly bad one for dragging operations, as (he bottom is very rocky, ami abounds with seaweed, which hampers attempts at.dragging. _^
