Alter disappointments and delays and futile negotiation, finality at last has been , arrived at in tho dispute over the building ,of tho now Dublin Street bridge. It will be remembered that the trouble originally arose through the impossibility of driving.concrete piles through a hard stratum underlying the river bed, and all attempts to come to an agreement between the Borough Council contractor and the Public Works. Department failed.. Finally, however, it has been agreed to vary the terms of the old contract by substituting ."concrete filled, iron cylinders" for "concrete pilmg." : ■ . As the work has been hung up for , tically twelve months, the time for , its. completion ia exteuded to March 14, 1913. The extra cost of the cylinders will be about ,£'6500.
