TOURS FOR TEACHERS: (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, December i. . A letter lias'been received by the chairman of the Education Board (Mr. G. i. Garland) from the organising secretary of the "Hands Across the Sea" movement among school 1 teachers in Canada (Mr. F. Ney), in reply to an invitation to visit Auckland. He mentions in- the letter that 350 Canadian teachers paid their first visit to the Old Country last summer, nearly half of them proceeding on to British possessions in the Mediterranean and Egypt. He is now hoping to arrange for a complete, tour .of the Empire by representatives of all Canadian provinces and Newfoundland. Mr. Ney says that he is writing "to , the"Education Department o; New Zealand, and he feels assured that if ;all;orerseaiDominions.will..join the movement it must become a most powerful factor from every point of view. He proposes wherever possible that the Canadian and Newfoundland members should join up with their oversea colleagues .en ■ route, and-thus complete the remainder of their journey in company. He had already arranged for a number of Egyptian and Maltese ' teachers to' visit Canada during the summer of 1913, and he looked forward with the greatest of pleasure to welcoming also a number trom New Zealand.
