Only two of the Cabinet Ministers are in Wellington to-day, the Hon. H. D. Bell and the Hon. W. H. Hemes. The Hon. W F. Mansey (Prime Minister) and the Hon. W. Fraser left by the Maori last night en route for Lawrence, where they 'will attend a banquet to the Hon. James ■Ulen on Friday. The Hon. A. L. Herdman left for Auckland by the second express last night. Tho Hon. E. H Bhodes will attend tho banquet to Mr, Allen tomorrow. The Hon. Dr. Pomare is in Otaso, and the Hon. F. 11. B. Fisher is still at Christchurch.

L, Herdman, the author of the Public Service Act, has accepted. an invitation from the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Civil Service Association to be present at their annual dinner in Christchurch on Saturday, December 14 A letter of congratulation has been sent to Mr. D: Robertson, Chief Commissioner under the Act, and a similar invitation has been extended to him and to his brother Commissioners.
