_c LIBERALS CAPTURE A LABOUR SEAT. By Telegraph—Frees Association—Copyright Sydney, December 3. Much interest was ■ taken in. the city over the municipal elections. Labour made a bold bid to capture the council, running candidates for all seats. The chief feature was the defeat of Sir Alien Taylor, ex-Lord Mayor, whose seat was captured by Mr. M'Gree, a member of the Municipal Labour Assembly. The Liberals not only succeeded in holding their own, but captured a seat from Labour. The old ; council oonsisted of seven Labour and nineteen Liberals and Independents.. The new council will have seventeen Liberals, five Labour, and four Independents, though most of the last-' named are Labour sympathisers. ; Mr. Richard Meagher ivas re-elected.
