CIVIL SERVICE CLUB RACES. Two races, tinder tho auspices of. the Wellington Civil 1 Service Amateur Sports CluL, were, decided at tho Te Aro baths last evening. The first distance decided was a race of 50yds., which resulted in a win for C. L. Xicliolls, with T. Duffy second, and E. 0. 15. Wilkinson third. Also started: B. C. Ashwiu; B. J. Taylor, K. C. Tliis evening the 50yds. open handicap will bo decided, and also tha diving competition. .In ' Thursday evening the 200 yds. relay face, and 150 yds. ladies'handicap will be decided. SYDNEY MEN HERE TO-DAY. Noted Sydney swimmers are arriving here by the Haunganui to-day. These are "Tod" Solomons, H. M. Hay, and Sid. Riddington, who are competing nfc Te Aro baths on Saturday next. They will be met on arrival by the officials of the local Swimming Association,- and at 5.15 will be accorded a welcome by the Mayor at the Town Hall, to which function oil local enthusiasts are invited. The promoters, state that much interest is being shown in the teams race, in which event the Australians will be joined by A. M. Tartakover, who has a reputation as- a sprinter. He is an old captain of tha Manly Club. . . .
