(By Telegraph.—Press Aesoolatlon.) r~* J SAD END TO OUTING. Auckland, December 2. Lonis Neale, aged 28, whose parents reside in Melbourne, was drowned on Saturday afternoon. He was yaohtinjr with a party on Mr. E. Q. Blomfield'e vacht Ariki. After landing ladies _at Waiheke the yachtsmen were bathinfc from the yacht moored off the shore. Neale and another were in the water after the others returned to the yacht. The companion suddenly . discovered Neale was missing. A diligent search re- . vealed no trace of the missing man, who was a powerful swimmer, but was eubjest to epileptic fits due to malarial fever, contracted during a visit to South Africa. CAUGHT IN A WINCH. Greymouth, December 2. A young man, William Greenhalgh, wae caught in the winch of the steamer Awahou this morning, and received fatal injuries. He was conscious, but only lived a couple of hours. He was 25 years of \ ago and a native of South Australia. MAKING A STRONGER RACE. Dunedin, December 3. The Hon. Jamee Allen stated t»-day that Mr. Eoyd Garlick, recently appointed Director of Physical Education, would recommend for appointment three females and three-males as a staff to start with. The Education Department intended to cure not only malnutrition but faulty breathing also, though some cases would need an operation. ■ • . ; FIRE ON A SCHOONER. Napior, November 30. At the Supreme Court, Edward Bab'< bitta, alias Roberts* was chaTged that he had wilfully made a false declaration in regard to his name under the Marriage Act. The jury returned a verdiot of guilty. His Honour commented on the sericragnesa of the offence, but said the present circumstances of the case would be met by a fine, of .£2O, the alternative being fixed at two monthe' imprisonment / BUSINESS IN REEFTON. Miohael M'Cormack, about 40 years of age, a roadman at Motu, shot hiineelf in the thigh on Sunday while pig hunting, and splintered the bone.
