TWO ANNOUNCED. . (By Meirreph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, December 2. Tho Government has appointed Mr. M. C. Barnett, district manager of the Public Trust Office, to be inspector for the DeSartment. Ho will take up duty oa anuary 1, and will make Wellington his hoadfniart«rs. Mr. Barnett lias been thirty years in the Government service. He has held the post of district manager in Christchurch for the past twelve years. Mr. S. A. Smythe has been selected by tho Government to succeed Mr. Barnett in Christchurch. Mr. Smythe has been, for tho past twenty years, in the head office in Wellington, and for the last fow years has been in charge of the largest, section of the work there, known as ''Wills and Trusts Estates." Mr. Smythe is expected to arrivo in Christchurch. about December
