RIFLE SHOOTING.

ON SATURDAY, FIGURES AND : NEAVB NOTES. Last Saturday the various rifle clnbs continued their matches at Trentham and elsewhere. The weather conditions presented many difficulties, and the shooting on the whole was not good. The following are the details:— KAEORI RIFLE CLUB. The Karori., Olul> concluded its first scries on Saturday with a ten-shot match at 900 and 1000 yards. The series, which has consisted ot five matches, of which the four test are counted, is won by Rifleman J. G. Faulkner, with an aggregate of 349 points. President H. Marshall scoured second place with an aggregate of 810, and Rifleman Lewer third place with.'337. Fourth prize goes to Rifleman F. W. Ching, with 335 points. Two trophies awarded to the highest handicap men go to Riflemen. G. Jones (321points) and Riiieman W. Chirnsido (319 points). The weather conditions on Saturday presented many difficulties to marksmen, many of wliom had trouble to keep on' the target. Rifleman F. AV. Chin? followed up his good performance of the previous Saturday with a well-compiled Hi. The second' best score was 80, by Rifleman J. C. The Suburbs Defence Rifle Club continued their trophy shooting at Broadway Range, Miramar, on AVednesday and Saturday afternoon for trophies presented to the club by Messrs. T. Coltman and AV. F. Hornig. The AVednesday men were again favoured with tlie "beat of the deal" with regard to weather, the Saturday men again receiving the usual week-end ordeal. Rifleman J. L. Turner put on the best score for the week (48 at 500 yds. figure target, and 45 at 700 yds. bull's-eye target, 18in. bull's-eye). This is a very creditable score, his figures standing well out from' all the other competitors, and placing him well in the lead for the club championship to date., The club continue as usual on AVednesday and Saturday next at ranges of 700 yds. and 800 yds. at Miramar.
