GERMAN LINERS FOR NEW ZEALAND
PROBABLE EXTENSIONS. There is a probability of the two German steamship oompitnies at present trading with Auetralia extending their services to include New Zealand (says tlio "Sydney Morning Herald"). If the negotiations at present proceeding between the Australian Agente-Gcnoral- and the German Government regardin;,' the removal of restrictions on the importation of "Australian meat into Germany are successful, both the German-Australian Steamship Company and the N.D.L. line will be taking large cargoes of Australian meat from Australia, and, if tho proposed extension is decided on, from New Zealand. The Gorman-Australian Steamship Company has lately been making largo additions to its fleet, and a number of new eteamers have recently been added to the Australian service, all of which are provided with as much insulated space as possible for the carriage of frozen meat ami fruit. ; The NiD.L. Company is also reported to be introducing now and larger liners in the Australian service after the expiration of tho present mail contract. The extension of thj servicee to NewZealand has not yet been definitely decided on, but it is generally believed that at least one, if not both, of tho companies will, in the near future, have eteainere visiting tho Dominion.
