LAKGE HOTEL BURNED; (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Cambridge, November SO. The National Hotel, with over twentj rooms, was - completely destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon. The outbreak originated in a laundry downstairs, where the etaff had been ironing during the morning. When it was discovered about halfpast two by the licensee, James Watters, the fire had a good hold. The brigade turned out smartly, bnt was top late to save the building. Some farnitiire and effects were saved. Crowthcr and Bell's large stables along-, side, and Murphy's block of shops, acrose Alpha Street, ignited, but wero . saved with little damage. The hotel was an old building, owned by Hancock and Co., Auckland, who held insurances on the building and furniture, the amounts of which are not obtainable. Watters's stock was insured for .£2OO, but he is a considerable loser. ■ It is understood the licensee had just effected the eale of his interest this week, but the buyer (Barker) was not yet in possession. Soon after the fire, ■ Catholic Presbytery, an old building, nearly three hundred yards away, was ablaze. The : Convent School and the residence of H.
