POLITICAL REFORM LEAGUE.
4 ■ A meeting was held in the Town Hal), Kangataun, on Friday, November 22, for the purpose of forming a branch of the New Zealand Political Roform League. Mr. E. D. Wallace, the convenor of tlie meeting, occupied the chair. The chairman, in introducing the organiser of the Reform Party (Mr. C. P. Lindegreen) said that the supporters of the present Government were - so. well pleased with the progress that Mr. Massey and his Ministers had mado during the recent session of Parliament, and with the manner 'in which they -were giving effect to the pledges made at the last elction, that they (the supporters) and friends of the Government felt that it was time that they did something to help to retain •Mr. Massey in .power. He was also pleased that there such a large attendance of the people of Bangataua,' for it went to show that there was great interest in the Reform movement in politics, and that those present realised their responsibility, ana wished to help to secure the return of another supporter for Mr. Masse,v. (Applause.) The organiser, in. a vigorous address, emphasised the advantages of systematic organisation. He pointed out that the Government were sincere in their effort to carrjr out the pledges made at the last eleotion, and instanced the measures passed during the recent session of Parliament.
It was decided to form a branch of the league, to be known as the Hangataua branch of the New Zealand Political Heform League. ' This was proposed by Mr. C.' Buttimoro, seconded by Mr. J. A, Barker, and carried unanimously. • Tho following; officers wore elected to oontrol tho affairs of the branch for. the ensuing year'.—President, Mr. R. D. Wallace; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. 0. Wollett, J. Sowersby, C. Buttimore, A. Webster, R. Addison; secretary and treasurer, C., A. Barker; committee, Messrs. Gall, Tunnicliffe, Rolston, Carter, Beer, Bemus, and Mrs. A. 0. Wollett. The organiser - was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his address. At the meeting of members held afterthe public meoting, it was decided to ask the Prime Minister, together with tho Ministers for Public Works, Railways, and tho Postmnster-General, to visit the district a 9 soon as they could conveniently do so.
