TRAGEDY AT A WATERING PLACE.
MISSING WOMAN AND A SUICIDE. By Tdegrapli—Press Association—Copyright London, November 27; A tragedy with some unusual features has occurred at Newquay, the well-known, watering place on the Cornish coast. Mrs. Sidney Nowill, wife of a Sheffield merchant, mysteriously, disappeared, and during the search for her, Mr. James Delay, a retired Singapore solicitor, who was staying at the Bame'hotel, suddenly seized a coastguard lieutenant, and exclaimed: "I will throw you over the cliff, too." Delay then as suddenly apologised. The officer then warned the police to watch him. On returning from the search Delay became distraught and committed suioide. A codicil to his will left Mrs. Nowill a considerable sum of money. At the inquest evidence was given that thero had been only friendliness between the two. A verdict of felo-de-se was returned.
