TRAMWAY REVENUE.

LOSS ON FREIGHT CAR. STATEMENT BY THE BOARD. The Tramway Board lias submitted the following summarised statement of revemu and expenditure for tlie four weeks ending November 10, with comparative totals for Inst .year. Tho net result is a credit balancc of .£314, as compared with ,£235 last year. Eor the thirty-two weeks from April 1 to November 10, 1912, the figures are: Revenue, (■£84,001)," an increase of •£3GB2; working expenses, .£03,081 (.£59,480), an increase of Ji3COl; capital charges, .£23,769' (,£23,110), ail increaso of i£659; credit balance, .£833 (£1411), a decrease of d£s7B. Reviewing tho figures to dato it is seen -that the gross revenue has increased by <£3G82, and the working expenses by JJ3GOI. After meeting capital charges there is a net credit balance for the thirty-two weeks of ,£833, as compared with .£l4ll last year. . . 1 The passengers carried for Hie four weelcs totalled 1,7-16,007, a decrease of 20,435 passengers as compared with last year. The total passengers cariied to dato amounted to 14,180,558, or 39,821 more passengers than Inst year. Tho car miles run for the four weeks totalled 172,573, a- decrease of 7GOO miles. This makes a'total of 1.42Q.107 miles run to date, an increase of 1-1,074 miles as compared with last year. ; The total revenue tier car mile for the four weeks averaged 15.36 d. or 1.40 d. more than Inst year, and for the thirty-two weeks to date 14.81 d. as compared with 14.3-kl 1 . last . year. ' The working expenses for tho four weeks avera<?H 10.78(1. p"r ear mile, an increase of 1.04(1.. and for the thirty-two weeks to date IO.GGd., or .old, more than last year. " , The total expenses (working exneiises and ea.pitel charges) have averaged. this year 14.07 d. per ear mile, leaving, a net surplus of J4d. lost year the total expenses av»raged 14.10 d.'. showing a net surplus of .2-4 d. per car mile.. Power. Tho figures for power supply for the thirty-two weeks froni April 1 to November 10, 1912, are:—Revenue, .£6053 (,£6111), an increase of .£542; working expenses, .£2939 (,£2020), an increase of ,£3l9capital charges,. ,£2981 (.£2842), an increase -of .£139; credit balance, ,£733 (.£649), an increase of .£B4. : This shows that the power supply revenue to date has increased by J2542, and tho expenses by X 458. The net result to date is a credit balance of .£'33, a s coinpared with ,£649 year. Freight Service. Tho freight service account for the four weeks ended November 10 shows - a debit balance of .£l2 os. 9d. The revenue amounted to .£35 13s. sd„ and the expenditure to ,£64 Us. 2d. (less value of departmental service rendered, sot down, at .£47 14s. 2d.). For the thirty-two weeks of the year the receipts from the service amount to .£261 18s. 3(1., and expenditure i£536 9s. 9(1. (less value of departmental service', .£136), leaving a debit balance of i£l3B lis. 6d. The car miles run by tins service total to dafo 12,465 miles, tho mileage for tlio, past four weeks being 1553.
