REEFTON MINES.
V WORK BEING RESUMED. (By Telegraph—Press lißSOclation.) i Reefton, November 21. Two largo oontracts were let yesterday by' tlio Consolidated and Progress Mines. The Pioneer • block for 5000 tons, in the Progress, was let to Preston, and oil the footwall block, in the Energetic, 4000 tons, was let to Christenson. The prices were most satisfactory to the men and the company. Active work begins to-morrow. Over thirty men. are now employed on the Progress- and fifteen to twenty at the Energetic. Ton additional contracts close on Saturday night, and contracts are constantly to be called for from now on until tlio mines are fully manned and the tonages sufficient to be continually employed. General satisfaction is being expressed at the new system. Men are arriving here from all parts, and numbers of old hands are coming back. The contractors are seeking men used to tho field.
