A large and representative deputation of the Farmers' Union and various local bodies' to-day intervioifed Mr.' Massey, and asked that the proposed agritultural college be located in Auckland province. The speakers, enlarged on the tneed for scientific methods in the treatment of various soils in this part of the Dominion. , ■■'...'-, '. .:.■• •■ ■ The.Prime Minister said that the Dominion was much behind other countries, -notably Australia and Canada, in agricultural education. Since the Goverhernment had advanced the proposal for an agricultural colleee, financial considerations had prevented them furthering the project, but he expected that those would gradually disappear, and the scheme be gone on* with. The proposed college must be close to one of the main linos of railway, and easy of access, and must have not less than 750 acres of land. The Government would select the best site in the North Island, and in this cosacc,tion would consult.agricultural experts.:
