"HURRAH FOR NEXT INNINGS."

' . . .——4 \ AN UNCONVENTIONAL ARCHDEACON. Archdeacon Colley, whose death took place in England on' October 1, resigned his living early this year. He won notoriety outside the Church of England as' a champion of spiritualism. Eight years ago the Archdeacon had his coiiin made and stored in tho music-room of the rectory. In 1904 he made a will bequeathing his body/to the University of Birmingham for dissection—"to be out up in the interests of anatomical and' surgical science : when I have done with it." He wrote,to the Deaxi of tho Faculty of Medicine, stating the arrangements ho had made., The Dean was quite equal to the occasion.' In his reply to the Archdeacon fee "said s— "I think, you have perfectly understood all that we require. When' your body is forwarded, you might direct that a letter be sent in advance .to the secretary, of the Dean of the Faculty, informing him of its coming. The body should be sent to the samo address. I believe you understood that you aro expected to pay all expenses. We will be quite sure that you are dead. . . . Trusting you are quite well." The Dean's .suggestion about the expenses is a decidedly humorous touch. The Archdeaoon some time ago also directed that a telegram in the following terms shall be dispatched to his 6on in India when his father had died:— "Just goin" forward for a little rest in the beyond, before seeking another incarnation. Shall try to let you know of my occasional presence. Have left instructions, as we together arranged.. Body in box, just going to medical faculty of Birmingham University. Hurrah for next innings, a round, we trust, of useful life.—Your loving father." "You see," tho Archdeacon said,. "I hope and expect that rioter death and a spell of Test—which may be one year or 500—1 shall return again for useful work, which is the doctrine I believe in and have taught.".
