MASTERTON NOTES.

Masterton, November 19. : Mr. George C'ox, manager of Flat Point Station, met with a somewhat- soiious 1 accident yesterday through being kicked by a cow, which lie was milkine.. I)r. Cook, of Masterton, has gone out to attend the injured man. • . The first consignment of this year's frozen meat—looo carcasses of mutton—is being shipped to-day on behalf of the Waiugawa works. By the end of the present month it is expected that operations will be in full swing lat the norks. About seventy men are at present «n----guged, including, a; dozen butchers. . The sheep returns show that there arc G2G,29l'sheep ih the Masterton County this year, compared with G01,918 last year. i ■ ' Tli,e Masterton Horticultural and Industrial Society, which holds its rose and sweet pea show next week, has a membership of 124. . It is reported that a line of fat kn:bs was disposed of in the. Masterton distiict a few days ago at 15s. 6dl per head.. This is •a record for the season. The half-yearly meeting of Stonehinge Lodge, U.A.0.D., was held last evening, Bro. J. Elder, A.D., presiding. Two candidates were initiated to the order, and the following were nominated for tho offices for tho coming term:—A.D., Bro. Puckton; V.A., Bros., Hornblow, Ewing-' ton, Wilton, and Perry; treasurer, Bro. J. K. Blinkhorne; J.G., Bros. S. Piagriell and Wilton; V.C., Bro. Hilton; A.D.B.'s, Bros. Milne, Corbett, and Sim; V.A'.B.'s, Bros. Hornblow, Pinky, and Birch; assistant "secretary, Bro. S. pragnell; auditor, Bro. E. H. Waddington; delegates to Grand Lodge. Bros. Anderson, E. Praßnell, and J. Blinlchorne. At a meeting of the committed of the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club last evening arrangements frere made in connection with the forthcoming sports /meeting. The Lansdowne School Committee wet last evening, when a circular was received from' Mr. C. C. Jackson, statins that ho would be a candidate' for the vacant seat on tho Education Board. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr. Denby, ■ for a collection of annuals, and to Mr. C. C. Ross for a donation of ±1, to bo expended in shooting prizes.
