THE MINISTER FOR FINANCE.

HIS COMING VISIT TO ENGLAND. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, November 18. The Minister for Finance (the Hon. J. Allen) will leave for England on December 13. Discussing the objects of his visit, Mr. Allen said the primary one is, of course, in connection with the Domin- , ion's finances, but not the least important part of his mission will.be a discussion with various authorities on the naval defence of the Pacific. While in Australia, Mr. Allen said he would see Senator Pearce, the Federal Defence Minister, with whom he had arranged a conference on the question. Before he left New Zealand he would confer with his colleagues on the matter, so that he would be'pre- •■ pared to convey the Cabinefs opinions to other parts ot the Empire. While in England he would take the opportunity of placing the Government's views regarding the Pacific before the Home authorities, and of discussing .the position with 1 them. Mr. Allen will return via Canada, and while in that country he said he hoped to see Minister; and review - the whole question with him. On_hia ' return, Mr. Allen will report to the.Gov- ; ernment on his discussions on the subject. "
