THE DAIRY INDUSTRY.

SCARCITY OF LABOUR REPORTED. The various dairy companies are experiencing much difficulty in obtaining sufficient skilled labour, says the Dannevirke "News," and as tile reason advances tho indications are that matters will become acute. Bo many lucrative positions are offering those who have had experience in the work of cheese and buttermaking that the spirit of independence is uppermost in the minds of such employees. The conditions of employment will have to be ideal this season if the companies that are at present fully staffed desire to retain the men over tho whole of tho season. As aa. illustration, the Eltliam Dairy Company is offering tho sum of 12s. Cd. per flay (Sundays included) to skilled employees, and even at that 'price there has been no rush on the part of men to fill the vacant positions.
