TURKISH ARMY SURRENDERS. UNCONFIRMED REPORT. SERVIA BACKED BY RUSSIA. By. Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright (Eec, November 16, 1 a.m.) London, November 15. * Renter's correspondent, in a wireless message from Constantinople, states that unconfirmed xoports are current that Nazim Pasha, the comiuander-in-chief of the Turkish army, has capitulated to the Bulgarians. NEGOTIATIONS FOB PEACE. Constantinople, November 11. The Turkish Director of Transport announces the cessation of hostilities. It is understood that the Porte'is negotiating direct with Bulgaria, at Russia's instance. The Russian Embassy states that the only remaining obstacle in , the way of peace is Bulgaria's insistence on momentary occupation of Constantinople. The Porte .declares that, that' is impossible while the' Sultan is in residence, even' if the .Bulgarians, as has been suggested, entered and left on the, same day. TURKEY APPEALS TO THE POWERS. London,' November 14. It is officially announced that Turkey has appealed to the Powers for ' mediation. , ' . ■ ~ BULGARIA NOTIFIED. Since noon yesterday wireless communication between Adrianople and Constantinople has ceased. There are rumours that Adrianople has fallen, Belgrade, November 14. It is announced, but under reserve, that Adrianople has fallen into the hands of the Servians and Bulgarians. STARVING REFUGEES. ' Athens, November 14. : It, is officially stated that the Turks at Yanina, South Albania, are pillaging and burning villages. Tho inhabitants havo sought refuge in caves in the mountains. Six thousand women and children are starving.. , Ten girls at the village of Denati were violated by the Turks, impaled on stakes, and finally had their limbs cut off. REFUGEES PERISH. / London, November 14. The "Daily Chronicle's" Constantinople correspondent states that 6everal sailing vessels crowded wtih refugees were wrecked during a storm on tho Asiatic coast. One foundered, and 200 parsons wore drowned. METHODIST'RESOLUTION. Dunedin, November 15. The Methodist Synod of Otago and Southland, meoting at' Balclutha, resolved on the motion of the Rev, P. W. Faircloufjh, the president: "That this 6ynod rejoices in tho success of the Allies in breaking the yoke of age-long Turkish oppression, and in liberating 6TifForing Christian communities." The motion was carried by a small majority, the Rev. W. J. Williams desiring his protest against it to bo placed on record.
