LYELL DISASTER.
A SUSPICIOUS DISCOVERY. By. Telegraph—Frees Associ*tion<-Copyrifflit Hobart, November 12. A quantity of cotton Waste has been found in the COO feet level of the Mount Lyell mine, ' ' This.is considered suspicious, and the matter has been placed in the hands of the police. The discovery at Mount Lyell is held to havo some bearing upon the lire at North Lyell. It is.significant that there is no possible use for the waste where it was found. FIRE STILL. BURNING, ■ Hobart, November 12. Tho position at the North lyell mine is unchanged. Tho workings remain scaled, and the fire is still burning. Flooding is proceeding, and it is raining hoavily. The water is approaohing the 850 feet level, which will be flooded in a fortnight at the present rate. It will probably be three weeks before the bodies are recovered.
