THE PRESIDENCY.

HUGH DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY. LATEST RETURNS. By TelGErSnh-'-Press Aasootetion-<Osprright Washington, Novetttber 10. It is announced that in. the Presidential election Dr. Woodrow Wilson, the- successful Democratic candidate, won 429 ont of tho total of 5.31 votes in' the electoral col- , leg*. Dr. Wilson carried the whole country except Michigan (1.5 votes). Minnesota (12 votes), Pennsylvania (3.8 votes), Washing' ton (7 votes),, anil Utah (4. votes). California (.13 votes) and Idaho (4 votes) are fitill doubtful. There is a discrepancy in the details, of the voting in the different States as ■ supplied by the Press Association agent. If J)r. Wilson had carried all the States except the fitfo mentioned, ho would have had 455 votes, or, if California and Utah are counted'as againfit him, 438 votes. Previous messages, however, hayo stated that Mr. Roosevelt. carried. Illinois (29 votes), and Mr. Taft New Hampshire (4. votes), and Vermont (4 votes)* This mates 37 additional votes to ho deducted from the Wilson total, reducing it to 418, or with California and Idaho counted out, 401. It is possible that the explanation is that the Pennsylvania vote has not been solid, as an earlier message indicated that the State was equally divided between the three candidates. ... the largest. vote in the electoral vool- ■ lege for .any Presidential candidate in a previous cohtost was 336. for Mr. Roosevelt in 1904, when Jud.se l?.arker, the Democratic candidate. jsfllied 140. Mr, Bryan, the Democratic candidate, at the last election, in 1908, .secured 1.62 votes . against the 321 recorded for Mr. Taft.
