The State Treasurer, Mr. J. H. Qfinn, 6peaking at a church function, denied that he had tried to raise a loan in Paris. Replying to statements tliat he had been "putting the screw on" in regard to public works, he said that when tho present monetary scare in the Old Land cleared away and things became' normal, AUstrar lia's credit and prospects would ho as good as ever.i The Minister for Labour, Mr. Beeby, speaking at Oberon said that whatever tho consequences, even though they led to his retirement from politics altogether, he intended to persist in his opposition to certain of the referonda proposals transferring powcrjfrom the States to the Commonwealth.
