HUTT TOMATO CROPS.
A DISASTROUS SEASON. Tomato-growers have suffered severe losses through the wet and ...boisterous weather that has been experienced this spring. The recent southerly storm which swept Wellington played havoc with the tomato crops generally, and did a good deal of damage to potatoes. In many cases in the Hutt Valley tomato growers had their crops ruined. One grower estimates that he lost 30,000 plants I and another 10,000, whilst several other losses running into four figures are reported. The season is so far advanced that the growers m/qucstion cannot'.pio-. cure grown plants to restock, and it is now 100 late to grow the plants from seed, so that the growers who have had this set-back are in, a sad plight. •Dairying is a most fascinating business when every cow shows a profit. You can greatly increase, if not actually double, your profits by installing an'up-to-date equipment which will necessarily include a Milking Machine and an "Anderson" Oil Engine.' The latter is a general utility engine for,the farm, made specially for use in New Zealand farms by a reputable New Zealand' firm. Every engine gives the full amount of rated horse-power plus ar)good bit more than is guaranteed. They save the farmer endless worry, cut down the wages bill, and help to make the farm a better paying business "Anderson." Engines run without a hitoh, and ;are very economical in fuel consumption.
