VEGETABLE SUPPLY GOOD. The Blair and Allen Streets markets have been fairly busy this week, oversea shipments of fruit arriving from Melbourne and Tahiti and also 'from California. . Tho Moana's fruit arrived yesterday, and opened, up in excellent condition. The first American oranges of the season were found' to be hardly mature. However, they realised from 20s. to 235. per case. Apples' ex the same steamer sold from 14s. to 15s, Bananas from Tahiti landed mostly ripe and, overripe, and values ranged from 7s. 6d. to 17s. 6d. per case, according to condition. Sydney fruit met with excellent competition, oranges selling up to 17s. per ■ case. Pineapples brought 10s. to lis. per case, and passionfruit made 10s. to lis.' per half-case. Ohoice .mandarins are worth 13s. to 15s. per case, and Sydney lemons 13s. to 17s. : Jfildura lemons, although landed in somewhat indifferent condition, realised as high as 20s. per case. Locally-grown strawberries reached the market yesterday morning, small consignments from the Lower Eutt realising Is. 7d. per lb. Gooseberries' are. now coming in. freely from various districts, and values Tange from 3d. to 4d. per lb, Green peas from Nelson met with fair competition at 10s. to 13s. per cental bag. Hot-house-grow.ri tomatoes from the Lower Hutt and from Nelson sold at Is. 3d. to Is. id. per, lb. Asparagus was in good demand, small bundles realising from 7d. to la. id. each. Cucumbers brought sd. to 7d. per lb. Rhubarb is now very plentiful, yesterday's prices ranging from 3s. to ss. per dozen. Other vegetables are plentiful. Cabbages sell at 4s. to Gs. per sack, but cauliflowers are scarce, choice sorts bringing from 10s. to lis. Carrots are worth 6s. to Bs. per 6aek, and parsnips 6s. to 10s. Lettuce are in good demand at Gs. to Bs. 6d. per case. . Californian onions command 14s. to I*3. 6d..pcr 1001b. New potatoes grown at the Lower Hutt sold jesterday .at 3d. to 4d. per lb., whilst Auckland-grown • sorts made 2Jd. From lißlO 10s. to .£l2 per ton Is the ruling price •for old potatoes. Eggs are plentiful at from lid. to. Is. per dozen.
