.—$ . ? 'Tho Ideal Woman of the Middle Ages" will 'form the subject of an interesting lecture which is to bo given this evening by Dr. Kate Hogg at tho Y.W.C.A., Herbert Street. Miss M'Lean, M.A.,.wi1l be present on this occasion to receive the members and'friends. Members of the Young Women's Christian Association have just receivod a handsome present of suitable books'for tho library from her Excellency Lady Islington. Tho library always forms a feature of . the educational department of Y.W.C.A. work, as it is fully realised that good literature is one of the most powerful influences for' good. This gift includes a complete set of Thackeray's works, ' Tho Young Women's Christian Associa-tion-all over the world enters upon its week of.prayer to-morrow. At the first World's Conference it was found that the second week in November was the only week in the entire year that was in nliy degree possible for every nation. Since the countries of .the world have united upon this time, it has been found to be a great broadening and spiritualising influence. Such an effort keeps tho smaller associations from discouragement, since ! each unit realises that it is an. important part of tho whole great movement. The opening service to-hiorfow afternoon of tho Wellington.'Y.W.C.A. will be taken ' by Rov. W, H. Shirer, and the day on which Australasia' is specially remembered, Rev. J. J. North will bo the leader— , Thursday next, at 8 p.m. Daily meetings : will take place in the Herbert Street club : room throughout tho Week.
