MEMORIAL.

TO. THE LATE C. G. WHEELER. . Tho Wheeler Memorial Sheep Pavilion (erected in memory of the late Mr. C. G.' Wheeler), was formally opened . at noon by MrfD. Buick, M.P. : ;.Mr. Buick referred to Mr. Wheeler as one of the brightest lights of the Manawatu A. and P, Association. Tho building, he added, had been erected as a lasting memorial to Mr.- Wheeler, who had been a member of the committee of the association from .its inception, and had done, perhaps, more than,any other man, over a period of twenty-four years, for the association's advancement and welfare. Mr. Wheeler had been a noted : 6lieep-breeder, president of. the North Island Sheep Breeders' Association, and originator olthe Romney Sheep Breeders' Association. He had also been president up to the time of his death. It had been Mr. Wheeler's ambition that suitable accommodation should be provided for tho' sheep classes, and tho committee 'thought that no more suitablo memorial could be erected to his memory than a building of this character. A small committee, consisting , of Messrs. . E. Short, D. P. Buchanan,.and A. Conway-had taken the matter in hand, and, with the assistance of Mr. E. J. Wackri II as honorary secretary,' hud brought the matter to v a successful issue.' Friends had been asked to subscribe;to the memorial, and:they hud generously -responded. The building had cost over .£IOOO, -£561 of which had been raised by subscriptions, and-the balance had been 'found by tho association. Tho 'architect of the building was Mr, C. P. Daniels,- of Feilding, who prepared the plans and supervised the erection of the building free of cost. The structure had been erected by. Mr. Wilkinson/ Feilding.

Mr. Buick added.that he had induced fifteen members of Parliament to accompany him on ft visit to the show. Mr. J. G. Wilson, of Martou, also spoke, his reference being mostly to the lato Mr. Wheeler.
