A good deal of discussion took ■■place on Hip question as to whether tho Basin lieserve w>ll bo cut up for tbo purpose of running tho trams through it. Mi , . Jlolt moved the following motion: 'That this body emphatically protests against tho suggested cutting up of tho Basin Reserve to anablo trams to rim through, being strongly of the opinion that no oity reserves should on any account bo alienated, nitd that the N.Z.A.A.A. bo asked to. tnfee steps to seek tho co-operation of tho various sporting and other bodies (including tho New Zealand Sports Protection League), in order to tako action to keep the city reserves intact." In speaking to tho motion, Hie chairman said that if the council contouiplitto taking the trams through the Basin, he thought that the whole, of the sports bodies should combine, and hold ft large representative meotiug in the Town Hall in protest. Personally he thought that Sir. Holt's motion was ono in the right direction. .The following committees were elected! , , Gear, Messrs. Cozens, Thompson, and Lamberg; - rc-instotement, '• Messrs. Ilceua'ii, Burnett, and Dunn; permit, Messrs. Co/.-. ens, Cook,' and Tainer. It was reiolved to write to. tho various clubs respecting their registered colour?, and ask for particulars, of same. , ■'.; The Wairarapa Club was granted JDcoeniber 2G as tho date for their aSuiual sports meeting. The Seatonn Club was .granted January 22-for a meeting , to be held on tho Sealoun. Park.
