THE REVENUE RETURNS. The summarised statements of,tramways and power supply revenue and expenditure for the four weeks ended October 13, villi totals to dab and comparative figures for the last, year, were submitted to the Tramways Committee of the City Council, by the Tramways Board of Management yesterday afternoon. For the tramways for the period mentioned (with the comparative totals'in parentheses for 1911) the figures ■ are-.— Revenue, .£11,090 (X 10.352), increase ,£738. Working, cxpen.-ev ..£75.12 (-£7082),- decrease .£llO. Capital charges, ,£2!;83( = C2691)',!| increase JC92. Credit balance, ,£503 (debit .£221), increase. .E7BC. This shows that for the four weeks under review the gross revenuo has increased by .£738, and the working expenses have decreased by ,£l4O, tho net,result being a credit balance of .£565, as against' a debit balance of J221 for the same period last year. , - For tho .twenty-eight weeks from April 1 to October 13. the figures rend:—Revenue, .£70.033 (J173,. r )55), inereas? .€3078. Working expenses, .£55,326 (,£52,157), increase .£3109. Capital charges. .£20,768 (X2n,222), increase £300. ' Credit balance, .£519 (4:1176), decrease .£0.17. Included in the revenue for ! IhcWwcnt.v-piglit weeks to date is an amount of .£825. beinj the first instalment of rates on the WudeXown tramway, roverinjr half a year's interest and sinking fund on the loan., The returns to date show that there is: now a net credit balance of .fiiifl, iis compared with .£1176 for .(he corresponding period of last year. Tho passengers parried for the four week-;, totalled 1,7.18,417, an increcuso of 23 passengers as compared wiih last year. Tho .total paswngers carried to date amount to 12.14(1,551, or 00,212 more passencers than last year.
The car 'miles run for the four wiyks totalled 173,821, a decrease of •WSI miles. This makes a total of 1,247,531 car miles run to date, » nincrrase of 22,3 Ci miles as compared with last year. The total revenue per car mile for the four weeks averaged 1">.31d., or l.Xd. more than last year. The revenue for the twenty-eight week? to date (including W-adestown rates) has aveingcil 11.74 d. per'car mile, as against 14.40 d. last year, an increase of .3-ld. The working expenses for the four weeks averaged lO.lld. per car mile, or .00(1. more than last year. The total expenses (working expenses and capital charges) for (he four weeks averaged 14.!)5i1. per car mile, as acainst U.25d. last year, an incroaso of ,28d.
