Tho' New Zealand loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., and Ecdueed (Jlustcrton branch), report:—Wo had a very fair yarding of cattle at the now annual Hprmff sole on Tuesday. There was a. large attendance of buyers, and competition was particularly keen throughout tho sale, every line changing hands under the hammer at satisfactory prices. Two-year-old steers brought £4 165.; yearling steers, £2 Us. 6(i.; yearlings, mixed eeies, £3 65.: 40 small yearling heifers, £Z 195.; calvos, £1 195.; 6jxringin<; hoifera, £5 ss. to £6 17s. 6d.; hulls, to £5; backward empty heifers,
CATTLE FAIK AT MASTEBTON. Abraham and Williams report on their cattle fair held at Jlasterton yesterday:— There was an exceptionally .heavy yarding, our entry alone comprising upwards of two thousand head, mostly straight lines of well-bred station cattle of good quality. The bullocks were well grown and in good condition. Bidding a,t auction was animated, with the result that wo have to report a total clearance at prices in excels of late market rates. The sale lcommenccd with the Annsdale station bullocks. Forty head of very forward, sappy 3 and 4-year-olds were- purchased by Mr. James M'Keuzie at £8 10s. Then followed an entry on behalf of Mr. Hugh 11. Bectharii, of Brancspeth, 70 5-year bullocks, in very forward condition, making £9. The purchaser was"' Mr. D. Buchanan. Sixty-nine 4-year bought bullocks, offered on behalf of the same vendor, fell to the bid of Mr. Holmes Warren at £7 17s. 6d., while 84. station-bred Hereford cross bullocks, which stood out excellently for quality, were secured by Mr. James M'Dougai], of Pirinca, at £7 17s. by Mr. P. Cooper, of Gladstone, at £5 lEs. 6d. A large ontry of station hsifers, on hehalf of Messrs. Kiddifard, of Te Aivaitc and Tablelands slat-ions, showed plenty of quality, but,'on * the whole, sold at. prices which must be considered very reasonable to buyera. Fifty 3-year Po!!ed Aneus crofG made £5 55.; 36 Shorthorn, £4, £4 135.; 41 2yoar Polled Angus, £4 12s. fd.; 87 Shorthorn, 2 years, £4; 52 Polled, Angus, on the email aide, £3 45.; 45 2-yc-jr Hereford cross, £3 17s. 6d. Yearling clears and heifers offered on behalf of the same vendors (somawhat on the small sids) made £3 lit-. 6d. and £2 12s. 6d. respectively. Yearling;, offered on behalf of Mr. William Hume, of Pirlnoa, , were well grown, and were keenly competed'for. Sixty steers made £<!, thirty £4 Is., and the balance (119) made £3 18s. 6d. One hundred and sixteen heifers realised £2 17s. 6d., and small 6teerS and heifers £3 15s. and £2 14s. 6d. respectively. Tho speyod cowe, offered on behalf of the Annedale station, were an extra, good lot, 16 fats milking £7 10s., and the balance £5 19s. Gd. to £6 9s. 6d. Mr. Hugh Williams's 5-year steers, from Kuma Kuma, made £7 75.. and 2-yeair-olds £5 3s. -pn behalf of otter vendors, forward bullocks made £7 to £7 17s. 6d.:'3-year eteers £5 15s. to. £6 lCs.
