■From Our Special Correspondents.! « OTAKI. The storm, which was fairly general throughout tlio North Island, struck Otaki on Saturday afternoon, but with loss severity than in many other localities. The jlakes were larse, but the fall was of brief duration. It was accompanied by wind and rain, which fell heavily lor a brief period. No damage was done, and even iruit trees were but slightly interfered with. Sunday and Monday proved ideal days. FEILDING. Beyond tlie closing of tile banks and one shop, and the hoisting of a flag over tho post office, Labour Day ivas not celebrated in Feilding. Some time between Saturday and yesterday aiOTning, a. burglar effected an entrance to Mr. A. H. Maclean's stationer's shop. Hβ left a candle-grease trail all through the shop, but, so far as the owner can toll, nothing was taken, except a number of pennies.
