WANGANUI SHOW.
I Wangandi has always been famous for its horses, and especially for its jumpers. On the first day of the show, in addition to the several hack and harness classes, there will be several competitions, the chief of which will bo the Hunters' competition. In this event the judge has to take into consideration the value of a horso as a hunter as well as his jumping ability. The winner secures a handsome trophy valued at ,£lO, besides a cash prize of 10 sovs. The leaping event for lady riders on the first day has been altered to a maiden leaping competition, for which Mr. Fred Moore donates five guineas to the winner. This event is open only to horses which have never won a leaping event in the show ring. A men's, driving competition, single horso and,a tandem-driving competition, figure 8 and twico round the ring, besides a pony leaping competition for ponies under 13 hands, and another for ponies under 11.2,-help to fill the bill for the first afternoon. The chief ting events for the second day ate a benditi" competition, open to ladies and gentlemen, and a ladies' driving competition., There is also a walking competition, with the usual reservation—no ambling or pacing allowed. Then, there is tho big jumping event, steeplechaser style, for which Messrs. Williams arid Co. donate to the winner a handsome sterling silver cup, in addition to tho association's prize of ten sovs. Intending exhibitors are reminded that entries for all events close on Wednesday, October 30.
