October 27, 5.5 p.m.) London, October 26V.-, Mr. Harcourt, Secretary for the Colonies, in a speech at Eossendale, said Great Britain was determined to rely on her own forces in the Mediterranean, irrespective of alliances or any understanding with another Power. LORD ROBERTS'S SPEECH RESENTED. (Rec. October 27, 5.5 p.m.) London, October 27. Mr. Runciman, President of the Board of Agriculture, in speaking at Elland, Yorkshire, said Lord Roberts's recent speech attacking Germany was deplorable, pernicious, and dangerous. He hoped that if it was resented in Germany the latter country would know it was equally resented in England.
