Mr. Runciman, President of the Board of Agriculture, in speaking at Elland, Yorkshire, said Lord Roberts's recent speech attacking Germany was deplorable, pernicious, and dangerous. He hoped that if it was resented in Germany the latter country would know it was equally resented in England.
