—fr- _ ANNIVEBSAKT SERVICES;- - The fifty-ninth anniversary of St. John's (Presbyterii&n) congregation was celebrated ' yesterday,' tho preacher for the day bein§ tho Rev. E. Evan Davies, M.A., of Ivnox Church, Dunedin. Tho fine weather allowed many of the older members of tho Church to attend the morning service. • The preacher, who based his remarks on John V, 24 and 25, gavo a very instructive address, holding the attention of the congregation throughout. Mr. Davies also addressed the Sunday School scholars in the church at 3 o'clock, and again preached in tho evening to a congregation that tilled the church. Tho choir, under the conductorship of Mr. Mauglinn Darnell, rendered fcverul anthems, which were much appreciated by those' present. Tho celebration will close on Tuesday with a "social" in the Dixon Street hull, when the Bcv. Mr. Davies is to give an address.
