o WHERE TO GO. To-day is labour Day and a general holiday throughout New Zealand for pretty well all classes of .tho community. The. prevailing'weather 0 f late has not brai of the holiday-making order, but yesterday made nmplp compensations, and Hie elements premiso to Ire propitious for to-day. Trcntham— Second day of Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting. Excursion, io Picton by t.s. Maori (leaving Wellington at 7.45 a.m., weather permitting). Harbour excursions to Day's Bay and Roma Bay. Bowls and tennis at all greens and court's ini city. / INDOOR AMUSEMENTS. , Opera Hojse.—lrish concert and pioturo show. Town Hall.--Second night of Wellington Boxing Association's tourney. Tho Wellington Steam Ferry Company , are specially catering for holiday-makers to-day, as advertised in another portion of this issue'. : Their popular fleet of steamers, consist- . ing of the Duchess, Awaroa, Cobar, and Admiral, will run at frequent intervals, starting from' 9 a.m. Visitors to Day's Bay are promised a full measure of amusement, including tho water chute, laughing gallery, camera obscura,' and boat swings. . Tho nativo bush ju6t now presents a magnificent sight, and will appeal to the many who are fortunate enough to take advantage of tho facilities afforded by the Ferry Company of viewing one of tho only too few samples of native bush remaining in tho vicinity„ of Wellington., Tho Waterside Workers' Band will .play ■ selections in tho Day's Bay grounds during tho'day, and hot water will be.supplied to picnic parties free of charge.
