At tho end of last week it was freely predicted in tho lobbies that tho session would end on November 2, but the opinion is now pretty general that Pariiamont has a poor prospect of rising before November 9. Apart from the work still to be dono on big policy Bills, and on a little army of minor measures that figure on tho Order Paper, the Government has promised to set aside afternoons for tho discussion of the Taupo-Totara and Otira Tunnel Committee reports. Other afternoon discussions may be looked for on the report of the Public Accounts Committee, concerning its inquiry into the administration of tho Stato Guaranteed Advances Department, and on tho report of tho committee appointed to investigate the petition of Mr. Joshua Jones, of Mokau, Taranaki. STATE ADVANCES INQUIRY. Although tho Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives his concluded the taking of evidence in its inquiry into the administration of the State Guaranteed Advances Department under past Governments, it still has somo work ahead of it beforo it presents its report to the House. Probably the report will not be brought down until towards tho end of next week.
