A number of Liberal members of Parliament, including Sir Arthur Markham (Mansfield Division of Notts), Mr. Noel Buxton (North Norfolk), Rev. Silvester Horno (Ipswich), Sir William Byles (North Division of Salford), Mr. Philip Moorell (Burnley), Sir Albert Spicer (Hackney Central), and Mr. J. A. 11. Macdonald (Falkirk Burghs), have signed a protest against tie speech made by 1 Field-Marshal Jyoril Roberts, at a National Service lenfiio uemonstratton at Manchester, in which ho declared that, as in 18SQ and 1870, war might occur at any instant; fiat the forces of Germany had superiority at every point, anil that Greet Britain bad last command of every sea except the North Sea, where her supremacy was disputed, and where Germany had always advanced. Tho protest expresses entire disbelief in Germany's warlike intentions, and deplores tho bitterness that' such statements cause. ... ~. ...,>. :.i :
